The increasing restriction of the agricultural use of sewage sludge is associated with mounting pressure on municipalities and sewage treatment providers. Moreover, the high power needs drive up the expenses of wastewater treatment plants. Thus, more and more sewage treatment plants decide to employ energy-saving sludge stabilisation in an anaerobic reactor and utilisation of the digestion gas for the generation of energy.

Minesto has entered into a technology partnership with German tidal turbine manufacturer Schottel Hydro. The objective is to supply Minesto with hydrokinetic turbine components in 2016 and 2017. ”

A refurbishment project with German participation in Jordan is aiming at modernizing and thus securing the water supply for the city of Madaba. One-third of the project financing was provided by the GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation) with two-thirds coming from future cost savings. This is made possible by the deployment of efficient pumps from the Dortmund company, Wilo, at the Wala and Libb pump stations.

NOV Mono has entered into a new working partnership to expand the levels of support and service it delivers to water and wastewater customers in Germany. Under the new agreement, Würdig Pumpentechnik will provide sales and service support from its offices in Berlin, Potsdam and Fürstenwalde.

At the 1st German Water Partnership Day on 22 October in Bangalore (Federal State of Karnataka in south-western India) and at IFAT India in Mumbai German and Indian experts discussed the challenges facing the Indian water sector but also opportunities of cooperation.
